Wool is a natural product which comes from the coat of sheep and the majority of the wool sold for carpet comes from abroad -- New Zealand, Australia and UK. The advantage of wool carpet is that its durability is superior to anything synthetic. It has natural stain resistant properties, is naturally fire retardant, has no harmful gasses, is environmentally friendly and is super soft under foot. The cost of wool per square foot starts at around $8-$9 per square foot installed with pad and can go as high or higher than $25 per square foot at Action Carpet, although designer wools can easily exceed that number.
